Chiropractic is not just for low back pain!

More and more, people think that Chiropractic care is just for low back pain but the truth is that it can help out with so much more.

The Purpose of  the Chiropractic Adjustment

The purpose of the chiropractic adjustment is to correct a misalignment or restricted motion in the spine or other joints of the body, this is what chiropractors call a subluxation. When the joints become stop moving properly and become restricted the body has to react to this and it does so in a negative way. The body releases inflammation, yes just like if you sprained your ankle, and other chemicals that cause pain. This pain then causes the muscle to go into spasm, which in turn produced more pain, and finally all of these changes cause the nervous system to become hypersensitive. This hypersensitivity is one of the reason for chronic pain, fibromyalgia, and other conditions. When your chiropractor adjusts your spine or other joints he or she is restoring the lost motion and realigning that joint to move properly. When this happens your body stops producing inflammation, relaxes your muscles, and stops your nervous system from being hypersensitive.

What You Should Know About The Different Adjusting Techniques

There are many different adjusting techniques and I mean many. But they all have the same purpose in mind. Some are extremely gentle while others are a little more forceful but still comfortable. Some even use an instrument to perform the adjustment. Most chiropractors use a few different techniques and may in fact use different techniques on different visits. This is often done to determine the most effective treatment for your condition.

What About Those Cracking Sounds?

“What is that popping/cracking sound?” is the most common question and by most people it is associated with the adjustment. People are also afraid that the adjustment is going to hurt and they do not seek help from a chiropractor. The sounds are normal and are just tiny pockets of gas being released. Treatment is not painful.
